Getting Started
Your AI teammate is ready to work. Here's how to get the most out of Swa.
Using Swa in Slack
Once Swa is installed in your workspace, you can interact with it in three ways:
Tip: Swa works with free Slack and Microsoft Teams plans. Some extended context features may be limited by free-tier policies of those platforms.
Creating Custom Agents
Build purpose-built AI assistants tailored to your needs. Creating an agent takes seconds:
- Check existing agents by typing
@swa list my agentsto make sure your name is unique - Describe your agent with a clear purpose, focus areas, and communication style
- Choose a model from: Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT (OpenAI), Perplexity, Grok (xAI), or others
- Deploy with a simple command and start using it immediately
Agents can also be chained together. For example: @swa ask perplexity to research X and then use my SEO Writer to draft a blog post
Learn more about agents on our Agents page.
Example Use Cases
Swa handles AI tasks across strategy, operations, marketing, logistics, and more:
Admin Portal
Workspace administrators manage everything from the Admin Portal:
- Dashboard: Token usage, model activity, and workspace insights at a glance
- Model Settings: Enable or disable specific AI models for your team
- Agents: Create workspace-wide agents that all team members can access
- Users & Teams: Manage access, roles, and permissions
- Billing: View usage, manage your plan, and configure auto-purchase
- Integrations: Connect Swa to Jira, GitHub, Salesforce, and more
See the full admin experience on our Admin Portal page.
Best Practices
- Be specific: The more context you give Swa, the better the response. Include relevant details in your prompts.
- Choose your model: Specify a model when you need a particular strength (e.g., "ask claude to analyze this document").
- Use agents for repetitive tasks: Create custom agents for tasks you do often so the AI already knows the context.
- Verify important outputs: AI can produce inaccurate responses. For critical decisions, use multi-model comparison to cross-check results.
- Start new threads: Very long conversation threads may hit context limits. Starting a new thread resolves this.
Limitations
- Single photo/file uploads are currently supported per message
- Very long threads may fail due to context limits. Starting a new thread resolves this.
- AI systems can occasionally produce inaccurate responses. Multi-model verification is recommended for critical tasks.
